Opening and greeting

U Joseph greet and explained to celebrate with Asian and Pacific Catholics that will hold celebration of faith and heritage at The Catholic University of America and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington on May 19, 2012 from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm. Then follow up by gathering together and dinner party at different location.

First time

Joseph Thang added that this will be the First time participating with MCA (DC area) and Asian Pacific Catholics celebration at    Basilica of the National Shrine in DC. As per last meeting from last week (02/11/2012) everyone need to decide tonight and express agreeing to participate for this celebration before continue the meeting tonight.

Agreed

Everyone whose attend meeting agreed to participated.

What we will do in Basilica

Mary Suilian shared latest news from meeting with USCCB on Feb24, 2012 with Nicholas and Christine. She said there will not be traditional dance for the Burmese (Myanmar) community but two people will need to participate in offering section which she will pick the persons on the day on May19, 2012. She requested Baltimore youth to pray for the opening prayer of Rosary and Michael agreed to organize the group and practice for the prayer. Christine agreed to volunteer to translate and pray of Prayer of the Faithful. 

DC area

Joseph suggested to use DC area when communicate to USCCB not to get conflict with NCBAC which is represent for the whole Myanmar Catholic in United States.  

Community Gathering

The group discussed to continue gathering after the celebration at Basilica. Joseph expressed the cost for the renting hall and dinner. U Peter suggested collecting donation from community members. Everyone agreed to record the name and the amount that they contribute and post it on celebration day.

Collection

Then everyone in the meeting contribute fund and collected $140.00, the fund in hand is $385.00 that include the fund collected today of $140.00.

Hall and Dinner

The group estimate 80 / 100 will be participating. Everyone agreed to look for the convenient one and report it by replying email. Jean Aung agreed to get information for dinner (Main food) which Pizza or Rice and curries.  

Next Meeting

Everyone agreed to continue the next meeting on March24, 2012 and location is 2052 Capstone Cir Herndon, VA 20170. But please check your email very often we will need to confirm the location.

Meeting Minute

·         We are agreed to participate the celebration at Basilica of the National Shrine on May19, 2012.

·         Gathering after the celebration also decided but depends on the Fund.

·         Opening prayer of Rosary (Baltimore youth) organizing by Michael.

·         Christine is volunteering to translate and pray of “Prayer of the Faithful”.

·         Everyone need to try to dress tradition clothes.

·         Everyone will find out convenient HALL for the community gathering.

·         Jean Aung will get info for the Dinner.

·         Follow up meeting will be at Mg Mg Tar’s house in VA on 03/24/2012.
